TVDE car rental: a checklist before signing
A car advertised for TVDE can have different contractual and operating conditions from those you need. Check both the vehicle and the contract before committing.
Confirm professional use
Get written confirmation that the contract permits your intended paid passenger-transport use. Explain the working context and identify the operator. An ordinary rental booking is not evidence of TVDE permission.
Confirm current vehicle requirements, registration and documentation with the operator and platform. Renting a car does not replace your driver certificate or the conditions applying to the operator company.
Read insurance and responsibilities
Identify cover, exclusions, excess and responsibility for damage or accidents. Ask whether the policy covers the activity and passengers under the applicable conditions. The word insured does not prove every use is covered.
Keep the confirmation with the contract and vehicle documents. Ask about unclear conditions before signing. This checklist prepares questions; it does not assess a specific policy or contract.
Compare the full cost
Compare the periodic payment, deposit, mileage allowance, excess mileage, fuel or charging, tolls and cleaning on the same basis. Include delivery costs, commissions and vehicle-return penalties where applicable.
Someone else saying they earned enough to cover rent is not an income guarantee. Separate fixed and variable expenses and consider fewer-trip scenarios. Compare offers only after obtaining written conditions.
Maintenance and downtime
Ask who organises inspections, servicing and repairs. Check assistance, replacement-car arrangements and charges during downtime. An unavailable vehicle also affects planning.
Record the vehicle condition at handover and check documents and equipment. Verify national, regional and operating requirements at the time of the agreement; do not assume identical rules everywhere.
A final review before deciding
Review duration, renewal, cancellation, deposit return and dispute procedures. Compare clear answers rather than only photos and a weekly price. We do not present rental companies as partners or recommended providers.
